The Do Not Call Registry (DNCR) is a service implemented in the UAE to protect consumers from unwanted telemarketing communications. The DNCR allows individuals to register their phone numbers, effectively opting out of receiving telemarketing calls, texts, and emails from any company in the UAE. Once registered, your number remains in the DNCR indefinitely, or until you decide to remove it or if your phone service is disconnected.
The DNCR is part of the UAE's efforts to reduce spam and unwanted calls. Telecommunication companies must respect the DNCR and avoid contacting registered numbers for marketing purposes. However, service-related messages from your provider are still allowed. Please note that the DNCR will also block marketing communications from Virgin Mobile.
Recent changes to the regulations have strengthened the DNCR's effectiveness. These changes include stricter conditions on telemarketers, the removal of provisions related to prior consent for telemarketing, and a streamlined process for handling complaints related to spam calls.
